Reflector by MattDrawsRobots Reflector by MattDrawsRobots

"Reflector: Sight Unseen"

Prints available!

This is the first time I actually drew Generation 1 characters in their Generation 1 forms, not as later, obscure incarnations. But I still had to take a skewed approach by focusing on their toy appearances and Tech Spec bio personalities.

Team Reflector has their target in sight. Mirage better be prepared.

so badass, really nice work man, can't wait to see more of the universe!

Thanks! But if you're hoping to see more of this little storyline of mine, unfortunately I don't have anything else up my sleeve. My imagination works more in vignettes than in fleshed-out narratives.

This is awsome! I love all the details that went into this. There's a whole story going on here. And what the heck are you doing, TC?!? That's Mirage you're handing that thing to! He's gotta be feeding the Autobots false intel, or something... Yeah, that's it. False intel. Yep. ^^;

It's up to you! They're deliciously open-ended characters, so whatever you want to imagine...

very cool point of view

Really like how you did Mirage!

I love the smiles they get on their faces, so cute and smug. this is incredibly beautiful. clever, smart and technically just beautiful.

Thank you! Little details of facial expression can go a long way, especially given how often "open-mounthed yell" or "gritted teeth" is the default with this subject matter. I'm glad you dig it!

It is unbelievable how much I love this pic. Thank you.

You are my hero for drawing all these characters that need love! (And coincidentally happen to be some of my favorites.)
And it's so gooooood, too. *-* guh. :+fav:

Thanks! Honestly, the fact that there are so many underexplored characters in the Transformers universe has always been a compelling aspect of it to me. The fact that I can use art to convey my ideas to other people is what gives me a lot of my motivation.

Heeh. So they can see Mirage..? >3
MattDrawsRobots Featured By Owner Jun 23, 2010  Professional Digital Artist
In my world, they can. In the cartoon, the best they could do was instant Polaroids. I figured they deserved a little better...

Dude, Reflectors prolly my new favoritest Decepticon. I actually think he's the most adorable thing ever. XD

I wanna pet'm.

That's awesome art. I like the shadows on Reflector, it looks realistic but doesn't burden the image. I like the way you have to look at the pic for a while to understand the different layers of it, what happens where and how we get that information. It takes skill to make something like that, an image you can't get in one glance. I like the different expressions on everyone.
It seems like an illustration for some story. Is it?
(also, the fangirl in me cheers for TC and Mirage)

Thank you for the compliments. And I think your question is the highest compliment of all. No, there's no story to go with this, but I find my inspiration in creating pregnant moments that imply action beyond themselves. The truth is, the reason I don't write fanfic is that I don't really know what led up to this or what will happen next, but it sure is fun to set up the tension.

The world needs more Reflector art. Fortunately, this will no doubt tide me over until someone takes it upon themselves to draw another.

Great job. I really like the perspective.

Oh, be still my beating heart... Reflector art!

Love the perspective. Someone's passing data to Mirage, looks like. *grins* Naughty little wingy Decepticon. Gots to watch out for who's watching you.

Yeah, I really have no idea what's in Thundercracker's hand. Something important, no doubt!

Glad you dig the art!
